Euronews, SyncWords case study

The story

Europe Today, in twelve languages by mid-morning

Euronews localizes its website into the languages of its European and Middle Eastern audiences. Its morning show had to follow.

The challenge

Europe Today airs live every morning. Euronews wanted localized versions of the show on each of its language editions as fast as possible after air, including languages with non-Latin scripts.

The solution

Euronews streams the show to SyncWords over SRT. SyncWords translates it in real time and returns DVB-TTML subtitle tracks in every target language. A custom Euronews encoder burns the subtitles into captured video for each edition.

The result

The show publishes in twelve languages, up from ten at launch. Because translation happens live, localized clips are ready immediately after the show ends, and the localized editions have grown their viewership.
