Accessibility mandates

Broadcast-grade captions that help you meet the FCC, CVAA and market accessibility obligations that apply to you.

Live + VOD

Caption live channels and back-catalog VOD from the same platform, with turnaround in minutes, not days.

Pay for usage, not channel licences

Run many simultaneous streams without a per-channel fee. Higher committed volume lowers the effective hourly rate.

Subtitling & Dubbing

Translate subtitles into 163 languages, including non-Latin scripts. Add AI dubbing in 86 languages, with voice transfer in 38 to carry the original speaker’s tone, pacing and emotion.

API-first & resilient

A clean REST API with dual-pipeline resiliency, built for self-integrating engineering teams.

DRM & multi-CDN

Operates inside DRM-encrypted, multi-CDN environments (CloudFront, Akamai, Fastly).

Standards-based delivery

Delivered in the formats your stack already speaks

Captions and subtitles ride along in the standards your players and CDN already handle, so nothing downstream has to change.

Adaptive streaming

WebVTT subtitle tracks in HLS, and TTML into CMAF ingest that your packager converts.

Embedded and SRT

Embedded EIA-608 captions and SRT subtitle workflows.

Codecs and resolution

HEVC/H.265, HD and UHD, and almost any framerate. DVR features are preserved.

Standard players

Use player-native subtitle tracks with JW Player, THEOplayer, HLS.js, Video.js and more.

Your destinations

Publish to the destinations you already use

Send captioned, subtitled streams straight to your platforms, and bring whatever encoder your team runs. Any RTMP(S) encoder connects.

Streaming & OTT FAQ

Does this help us meet accessibility regulations?

Yes. Broadcast-grade captions that support your FCC, CVAA and market accessibility obligations. Compliance itself rests with the distributor; our output is built to support it.

Can it handle many concurrent channels?

Yes. Concurrent channels in HD and 4K with no fixed cap and no per-channel ceiling.

How clean is the API?

Create channel mappings once, schedule or start them from your own systems, change language outputs and pull usage without rebuilding the service for every program.

Can I caption live and VOD?

Yes. The same platform handles live channels and post-production VOD; a 60-minute file is captioned in under 10 minutes.

Do I need to transcode?

No. Captions and subtitles are inserted without transcoding, so they are delivered in real time.

What about reliability?

99.99% uptime, dual-pipeline resiliency and a 24/7 support team; a SyncWords services partner runs roughly 75 live sessions every Sunday on our infrastructure.

Does it work with DRM and multi-CDN?

Yes. DRM-encrypted streams and multi-CDN setups (CloudFront, Akamai, Fastly) are supported.

How is it priced?

Pricing is usage-based and charged per language and output, with no per-channel licence. The effective hourly rate falls as committed volume rises.

Which languages work for embedded EIA-608 captions?

Embedded EIA-608 carries the seven languages the standard supports, including English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Italian. For anything beyond that, WebVTT subtitle tracks in HLS carry every language and character set you need.

Can I use human (CART) captioners?

Yes , bring your own. Third-party CART providers and standard steno software connect over a direct EIA-608 Control-A connection. Live sessions are pre-scheduled.
